Gabriel Tamas will sign a new deal with West Bromwich Albion in the coming weeks.
The Sunday Mercury says Tamas has two-and-a-half-years left on his current deal, with an additional 12 month option in the club's favour.
The Romanian's contract has a clause which allows him to renegotiate his deal once he reaches 15 games.
The new deal will effectively kick in after he has played two more games.
Jon Kirtland, his English-based agent, said: "There will be talks over the next week or so between ourselves and West Brom.
"Gabriel is very happy at West Brom and has settled into the area well."
Reports have claimed that Tamas was keen to negotiate a new deal due to alleged interest from Chelsea.
Those claims are incorrect. Both Tamas' agent and Albion insist there has been no interest from the Londoners.
