Mexican outfit Club Leon are still negotiating with Rafael Marquez about a potential transfer.
The 33-year old Mexico international is rumoured to be leaving New York Red Bull this offseason with talk of a shift to Leon gaining plenty of traction.
Leon president Jesus Martinez has revealed that talks are ongoing and that the club is determined to lure Marquez back to the Liga MX after his stint with Atlas between 1996 and 1999.
"The issue of Rafa Marquez is a very important option for Leon. But nothing concrete so far," Martinez told Record.
"For various reasons I cannot tell you how negotiations stand because I will not harm anything that can happen, but it is a very important for the team. Surely there is a major approach to the services of Rafa Marquez, for what he means to the Mexican soccer and so can come bring Leon.
"Anything can happen so (we) do not want to talk much about it not to harm, but we are in talks and hopefully materialize, hopefully reach an agreement."
