Sydney's Kosmina looks to China & Russia for recruits

Sydney FC coach John Kosmina is determined to build a more competitive squad for next season and will look to places such as China and Russia for potential talent.

Despite signing many young stars already, Kosmina says the view positions vacant within the squad are important to fill with quality.

"We only have three, maybe four spots to fill but they are important roles given the number of young players we've already signed for next year," Kosmina said yesterday.

"The agreement we've signed with (Chinese side) Shanghai Shenhua should help, with the possibility of going over there for games and the chance to look at players.

"But with (new owner) David Traktovenko's contacts in Russia, that region has produced any number of quality players over the years and I'd be keen to try to use that link with the area to see if we can't recruit that way."
