Sydney FC midfielder Karol Kisel says he is only slightly hopeful of making Slovakia's squad for the 2010 World Cup.

The 32-year old has made 25 appearances for his nation since his debut in 2002 but admits his chances of going to South Africa with the nation that gained independence in 1993 are only very minor seeing as national coach Vladimir Weiss has not called him up since 2007.

''You play football to be part of that and I want to go there but I know what's going on. I hope I can go but I'm realistic,'' Kisel told the Herald.

''I don't think the coach trusts me too much. But if he will call me and would think about me, I would be very glad.

"I have a lot of friends in the team who I've played with, but I haven't been there [recently] and that's why I think I won't go. But if he will call me, I will go.

''I don't think it mattered. When I played in Czech Republic, [Weiss] didn't call. There have been a lot of players and they have been doing well,'' Kisel added.

''But he doesn't need to change the team unless other players lose form or have injury. Maybe he will call me then.

''Even if I'm not playing, I was very happy when they qualified and I'm very excited about the World Cup and maybe we can surprise.''
