Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has become victim of the Sydney luvvies.

The Daily Mail says Schwarzer looks like he has given up his battle to renovate his Sydney harbourside home, which was once owned by Australian novelist Christina Stead.

International literary figures including Jonathan Franzen and Fay Weldon campaigned against Schwarzer's plans for a three-car garage, swimming pool and glass pavilion at the heritage site he bought in 2009 - the inspiration for Stead's best known work, The Man who Loved Children.

The Victorian house is now up for sale for around £8million with no mention of planning permission for alterations.
