Alessandro Del Piero will miss Sydney FC's trip to Wellington Phoenix this weekend because of a hamstring injury.
The Italian ace sustained some damage to the area during last weekend's 0-0 draw with Melbourne Heart and has been ruled out for Sunday's clash with the Phoenix.
"Scans have shown that Alessandro has suffered a strained hamstring so he will not be travelling to Wellington for Sunday's game," said Sky Blues coach Frank Farina.
"It's a long flight and with time differences it's not an option for him to play. The positive news is that there is no tear but we will re-evaluate how the injury has progressed and what we do going forward next week when we get back in to training."
Del Piero has made eight appearances out of nine A-League matches for Sydney so far this season and has scored five goals.
