A-League club Sydney FC are reportedly on the verge of announcing a four-team tournament to be held in July.
Reports suggest that the Sky Blues will host Argentine club Boca Juniors, Scottish giants Rangers and English Premier League outfit Blackburn Rovers in the July competition and chief executive Edwin Lugt confirmed that the deal was in place but yet to finalised.
''We would have preferred to keep it secret until it was finally confirmed and the tournament organisers could say this great news was over the line, but yes, I can confirm that it's very close to being done,'' chief executive Edwin Lugt told the Herald last night.
''We're very excited about it.
''We're expecting to have everything sorted out by the end of the week - it's just a matter of a few details - and from what we understand, all four clubs have agreed to come here, which is fantastic news.''
The reigning A-League champions will also take on English club Everton on July 10 making it a busy month leading into their title defence for the 2010/11 season.
