Sydney FC’s Corica to retire at end of season

As reported yesterday on tribalfootball.com, Sydney FC captain Steve Corica will retire at the end of the current A-League season.

The 36-year old today officially announced the decision that he will hang up his boots once the Sky Blues’ 2009/10 campaign ends.

The skipper and midfielder of the Sky Blues is in his 21st season of professional football after starting his career in 1990 with Marconi Stallions in the old National Soccer.

Corica’s career has seen him enjoy stints with English clubs Leciester City, Wolves and Walsall as well as Japanese outfit Sanfrecce Hiroshima before he joined Sydney in 2005.

Coastie thats a bit harsh... hes still the best attacking mid in the a-league, great player from stat to finish in his career! hes been playing great football since before i was born and is a player that young guys should want to be like

ease up coastie, he was a general for the Sky Blues and played well overseas, he also represented the socceroos on a number of occasions. give him a break.
