Sydney FC's Brosque content in the A-League

Sydney FC striker Alex Brosque says he harbours no ambitions to try his luck overseas and is keen to remain playing in the A-League.

The 26-year old had a small stint in Europe when he signed for Feyenoord in Holland in 2004 but was immediately loaned out to Belgian club Westerlo but was restricted to 16 appearances because of an ankle injury.

Now, however, Brosque is adamant his days of trying to make it abroad are over and says if his form in Australia's top flight and next season's Asian Champions League is good enough then the door may stay open for a national team call-up.

"I don't have that sort of burning desire to go and play overseas," Brosque said.

"I'm very happy playing in the A-League and it depends on what the [new Socceroo] coach thinks of the A-League.

"It seems it doesn't matter - you could be anywhere overseas but you've seen how Adelaide did in the ACL by getting to the final.

"I think the A-League really is not that different to other teams in Asia, which is why I don't think the A-League gets the credit it deserves.

"And playing a lot more games, the seasons are going to get longer from now on and with the ACL. If anything, we won't have anything to complain about next time World Cup selection comes around."
