Sydney FC open Champions League with Suwon bore draw

Sydney FC parked the bus at home to earn a point against K-League giants Suwon Bluewing tonight. The Sky Blues had Terry McFlynn sent off on the half hour mark which forced the hosts into ultra defensive mode.

In a drab affair, neither team truly tested the goalkeepers as Sydney held on to earn a point upon their return to elite Asian action.

Suwon will be disappointed with their performance with their quartet of new signings in defender Hwang Jae-Won, midfielder Lee Yong-Rae, striker Yeom Ki-Hoon as well as Korea Republic's South Africa 2010 goalkeeper Jung Sung-Ryong, all featuring.

Loan signing David Williams battled manfully for Sydney just 24 hours after seeing parent club North Queensland Fury dumped from the A-League.
