Sydney FC open Champions League with Suwon bore draw

Sydney FC parked the bus at home to earn a point against K-League giants Suwon Bluewing tonight.

The Sky Blues had Terry McFlynn sent off on the half hour mark which forced the hosts into ultra defensive mode.

In a drab affair, neither team truly tested the goalkeepers as Sydney held on to earn a point upon their return to elite Asian action.

Suwon will be disappointed with their performance with their quartet of new signings in defender Hwang Jae-Won, midfielder Lee Yong-Rae, striker Yeom Ki-Hoon as well as Korea Republic's South Africa 2010 goalkeeper Jung Sung-Ryong, all featuring.

Loan signing David Williams battled manfully for Sydney just 24 hours after seeing parent club North Queensland Fury dumped from the A-League.

I was there and the Sydney boys did us proud. The atmosphere in the crowd was electric. Drab? No way!

If anything Sydney FC had the better chances when going down a man. TribalFootball, get your facts straight fellas.

what an absolutely crazy story. Sydney FC were excellent given that they were down to 10 men for 60 minutes. Parking the bus? You are an idiot mate.
