A-League club Sydney FC are believed to be keen to make a play for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brett Emerton. The Sky Blues are determined to bring some star quality to the Sydney Football Stadium and reports suggest that the 32-year old Australian international is the man they want.
Emerton had appeared in 28 Premier League matches this season, indicating that he is a key player at Ewood Park and it is unlikely that he would want to return home just yet.
However, Sydney are serious about making a bid for the former Feyenoord Rotterdam man and are positive about getting him if Rovers are relegated from the top flight this term.
On the weekend they meet league leaders Manchester United, who only need a point to clinch the Premiership, but the Lancashire outfit will be desperate to get at least a point of their own to stave off a possible relegation.
If Blackburn happen to fall to England's second division, then expect Sydney to go hard at Bankstown-born Emerton as they strive to bring some quality back to the club after a very lean season.
