Sydney FC head A-League pre-season table

Sydney FC have started their season of redemption in great fashion, winning 11 of 12 matches. The Sky Blues missed the finals for the first time last term and are determined to bounce back.

Their pre-season form shows that they are going about it in the right way.

tribalfootball.com has put together the 'A-League Pre-Season Table' to give readers a guide to which teams have been firing in the off-season and which teams have been struggling.

This pre-season has been conducted in a different format to normal, with the official pre-season competition being replaced by varying schedules, according to club needs.

Each team has played a different amount of matches in the 2009/10 pre-season, so tribalfootball.com has taken that into account and ranked the teams by 'points per game average' rather than 'total points'.

With most teams having just one preparation match left before the season kicks off on August 6, we thought it would be useful for fans to see just how their team has rated in the off-season.

The following is the 2009/10 A-League Pre-Season table:

1. Sydney FC (12 games, 11 W, 1 D, 0 L: 2.83 points per game) 2. Gold Coast United (7 games, 6 W, 1 D, 0 L: 2.71 ppg) 3. Adelaide United (6 games, 4 W, 1 D, 1 L: 2.16 ppg) 4. Central Coast Mariners (6 games, 3 W, 3 D, 0 L: 2.00 ppg) 5. Brisbane Roar (9 games, 5 W, 0 D, 4 L: 1.67 ppg) 6. Melbourne Victory (10 games, 4 W, 2 D, 4 L: 1.40) 7. Perth Glory (5 games, 2 W, 0 D, 3 L: 1.20 ppg) 8. Wellington Phoenix (6 games, 1 W, 4 D, 1 L: 1.16 ppg) 9. Newcastle Jets (3 games, 1 W, 0 D, 2 L: 1.00 ppg) 10. North Queensland Fury (9 games, 2 W, 0 D, 7 L: 0.67 ppg)
