Sydney FC are favourites to land released Adelaide United midfielder Paul Reid.

Gold Coast United is also chasing the veteran player.

However, the former Brighton wing-back favours a move to Sydney.

Adelaide coach Rini Coolen, chairman Greg Griffin and football director Michael Petrillo held talks about Reid on Tuesday.

"He's no longer required," Griffin said.
