Sydney FC confirm Aloisi will miss Grand Final

Sydney FC have been dealt a massive blow just days before the A-League Grand Final with news that striker John Aloisi will certainly miss.

The 34-year old injured himself in the Preliminary Final win over the Wellington Phoenix and scans revealed a torn left hamstring that is likely to have him sidelined for up to eight weeks.

Yesterday the club was still hopeful but they confirmed in the evening that Aloisi would not be available for the clash with the Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Naturally, Aloisi was extremely disappointed by the news.

“I‘m shattered,” Aloisi said. “We have worked so hard to get here and to have it taken from you is really devastating.

“When it happened I knew something wasn’t right but you always have hope. When I got the news from the doctor it was pretty upsetting.”

Aloisi had returned to career-best form this season, netting a club record 10 goals for the Sky Blues.
