Sydney FC coach Lavicka very keen on Crystal Palace's Carle

Sydney FC coach Vitezslav Lavicka is still reportedly very keen on signing Crystal Palace midfielder Nick Carle. As speculation continues in regards to North Queensland Fury's Robbie Fowler, the Czech tactician has made it clear that he is a fan of Carle and is still attempting to lure him back to the A-League.

Sky Blues chief Edwin Lugt admitted that Fowler's name was still bobbing around but confirmed that Lavicka may not be 100 per cent behind the move for the ex-Liverpool star and instead may be keen for Carle to join the reigning champions.

"There's been a lot said and written about Fowler coming to Sydney but there's nothing concrete and it's way too early," Lugt said. "We only had contact with his management last Friday and Vitza [Lavicka] has just been notified as well.

"Vitezslav has to decide whether he wants that player and whether he fits into his style and philosophy.

"He has been thrown a number of other names as well and it's no secret he is still very interested in getting Nick Carle."

Lugt said, however, that the club would not rush any decisions on who to sign as replacements for veteran striker John Aloisi who joined the Melbourne Heart and retired captain Steve Corica.

"We have five positions to fill but the No. 9 and No. 10 spots are priority," Lugt added. "We've had players and managers approach us but we are not rushing into anything."
