Sydney FC have signed Serbian defender Nikola Petkovic on a one-year deal.
The 27-year old former Genclerbirligi and Eintracht Frankfurt man has joined the Sky Blues from Red Star Belgrade and head coach Frank Farina was over the moon to have landed his signature.
“Nikola’s signing is an excellent piece of business for Sydney FC and completes our squad,” said Farina.
“He can play anywhere across the back four and will give our defence strength and depth.
“I am expecting big things from him this season and believe he will have a big influence on the squad.”
During his career, Petkovic has also played for homeland club Vojvodina, Hacettepe SK (Turkey), Tom Tomsk (Russia), Al-Ahli (Saudi Arabia) and Hapoel Tel Aviv (Israel).
