Swindon mindful of Luongo's World Cup dream

Swindon Town boss Mark Cooper insists he has Massimo Luongo's World Cup ambitions in minds.

The 21-year old Australian midfielder missed Swindon's 2-1 League One win over Sheffield United on the weekend because of a calf injury but the Robins are not about to rush him back before he is ready.

Cooper told the Swindon Advertiser that the Wiltshire outfit, currently chasing a League One promotion playoff place, will wait to the former Tottenham man is ready to go as he strives to make the Socceroos' World Cup squad.

"Mass has had a sore calf for a couple of weeks and has been playing through it and we just felt to be fair to him he might have a slight strain and we didn't want him to tear it and rule out any chance of him being involved for the rest of the season and maybe the World Cup," said Cooper.

Swindon, placed seventh in England's third tier, head to relegation battlers Carlisle United this Saturday.
