Swedish thumbs up as Djurgarden IF party at Man City today to strengthen partnership

A delegation from Djurgarden IF are in England today for Manchester City's Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

DIF have a collaboration agreement with City and representatives will be touring the club's facilities and speaking with coaching staff ahead of tonight's game at the Etihad.

Ghana teen Godsway Donyoh, tied to City, has already successfully trialled with DIF and will be signed by the Swedes in January.

Swedish football expert Jakob Celik, of Fotbolltransfers.com, says the partnership has been a slow burn for the local media.

"There hasn't been that much talk about it, mostly because it's still in the early stages. Two Djurgården youngsters have been in training with Manchester City. And City has sent a Ghanaian trialist to the Swedish club. Maybe we'll know more about the partnership after this week's visit," Celik told tribalfootball.com.

"Manager Magnus Pehrsson, chief scout Khaled El-Ahmad and CEO Johan Persson will be in Manchester today."

Celik is convinced the local league will benefit from partnership, with City eager to loan their best young players to DIF in order to accelerate their development.

"It's always positive to have a partnership with such a big club as Manchester City, especially if it means that good players will come to Allsvenskan," he said.

"But at the moment it's too early to say if anything good will come out of it. There are many good talents in Premier League clubs who would benefit from playing in Allsvenskan. It's always better to play first team football rather than being in the reserve team. For instance, two years ago Manchester City striker John Guidetti was loaned to Swedish team IF Brommapojkarna. He did three goals and three assists in eight games."
