Like Barrow, Maric moved to Swansea this season from Sweden and is currently playing for the U21 team.
The 18 year-old was playing senior football for GAIS at 16 and told viasatsport.se: "We see eachother a lot actually, and it's nice to talk a little Swedish sometimes.
"We played both in Sweden when I was with Gais and he was with Varberg and Östersund, so we knew each other a bit back then. We live fairly close together, making it easy to socialize."
Maric admits he'd love to make his Premier League debut this season.
"Hopefully it will not take long. It's up to the coach and how he thinks, but it is at least as much up to me to prove to him that I deserve a place. But it's hard to say, because a lot can happen in football.
"But I keep my fingers crossed that I reach the first team soon."
