Swansea skipper Monk: Spain trip will be no jolly

Swansea City captain Garry Monk doesn't want any slacking off for their trip to Spain.

Swans are set for a break in Tenerife next week.

But club captain Monk, 32, said: "I'm sure there will be people who will say we are going away on a jolly.

"But we're going out there to work - and work hard. With the climate and facilities out there, it will allow us to put in some high-intensity sessions.

"Of course, there will be some time to relax - which is important for recovery - but this trip couldn't have come at a better time as it will also give some of the new faces a chance to bond further with the group.

"It's not too long ago that if you mentioned going away, we would have been thinking Fairwood Common near Swansea."
