Swansea signs Hoffenheim's Sigurdsson on loan

Swansea City have secured the services of Gylfi Sigurdsson on loan according to a report on German club TSG Hoffenheim's website.

The 22-year old Iceland international midfielder will join the Swans on loan for the remainder of the season, reuniting with manager Brendan Rodgers who had him at Reading back in 2009.

Sigurdsson has struggled for game time this season due to injuries, managing just seven appearances, and Hoffenheim sporting director Ernst Tanner says it is important for him to get regular matches under his belt.

"Gylfi missed the summer due to his injury most of the preparation and did not really kick in after that. We now hope that he will get through the loan of the needed match practice, way back to its former strength,"said a translated excerpt on the club's official website.
