Swansea City boss Garry Monk said his club wanted Wilfried Bony a lot more than West Ham United did.
The Swans signed the 25-year old Ivory Coast striker from Vitesse Arnhem in the summer of 2013 when the Hammers were also showing considerable interest.
Bony has been a revelation for the Welsh club, scoring 32 goals in 64 appearances, and Monk feels it was his outfit that went harder for the talented attacker when he was ready to leave Holland.
"It's the first I've heard of it, but if that's what they were doing they didn't really want him enough," Monk said responding to West Ham boss Sam Allardyce's comments regarding their desire to sign Bony.
"We obviously pursued Wilfried, he's committed to us, we're committed to him and the rest is history.
"We managed to sign Wilfried and we've done a lot of development with him as far as the team is concerned.
"He plays to our strengths, the team to play to his strengths and it obviously works for Wilfried and Swansea City."
