Swansea City are on the verge of securing the services of Premier League target Ashley Williams.
The Wales national team captain has attracted interest from the likes of Wigan Athletic and West Ham but according to Swans boss Brendan Rodgers, who has no doubt he the 26-year old could make it in the top flight, he is close to committing himself to the club.
"The club are close to agreeing a new deal with Ashley and there is no doubt that he is a Premier League centre-half," Rodgers said.
"He is quick, strong and good in the air but he can play football.
"He has a good understanding of the game and that's what the big players at the big clubs have in the big games.
"I used to work with Mike Williamson, now at Newcastle, and then saw Roger Johnson left Cardiff to Birmingham.
"But I have watched Ashley for the past few seasons and he can play at a very high level in the Premier League."
