Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been charged by the Football Association (FA) in the wake of Monday night's loss to Liverpool.
The former Reds man has been charged with misconduct after appearing to fling an errant arm into the face of Emre Can during his side's 4-1 loss at Anfield.
Shelvey's actions escaped the attention of referee Andre Marriner on the night but has since been picked up by the FA who have charged him after seeing the incident on video replay.
"Swansea City's Jonjo Shelvey on Tuesday has been charged by The FA for violent conduct, following an incident in his side's fixture with Liverpool," read an FA statement.
"The incident, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video, occurred during the fixture between the two sides at Anfield on Monday 29 December 2014.
"Shelvey has until 6pm on Wednesday 31 December 2014 to respond to the charge."
