Swansea City are rivalling Newcastle United in the battle for Watford defender Adrian Mariappa.
Brendan Rodgers tried to sign the 24-year-old in the summer and is keen to make another offer with Newcastle reluctant to bid beyond £4million in total.
Middlesbrough's Rhys Williams is another option for both clubs should they miss out on Mariappa.
