Swansea return to Las Palmas for Jonathan Viera

Swansea City are eyeing Las Palmas midfielder Jonathan Viera.

WalesOnline says the Swans are set to raid the Spanish side for the second time this summer following the signing of midfielder Roque Mesa.

Boss Paul Clement had an initial bid of £21 million rejected with the La Liga side insisting any potential suitors must stump up the £26m release clause.

Clement has an inside knowledge of the Spanish market after spending two years with Real Madrid working under Carlo Ancelotti.

Swans chiefs made tentative enquiries about the former Spain Under-21 international while thrashing out a deal for Roque Mesa.

Talks now looked to have reached an impasse which could allow Newcastle, Everton or Real Betis to steal a march on Swansea.
