Swansea City have received encouragement in their pursuit of Thomas Kahlenberg.
The Dane has seen a move to St Etienne fall through.
New Swansea manager Michael Laudrup had identified the 29-year-old midfielder as one of his potential targets, says the Daily Mail.
Kahlenberg, who was part of the Denmark squad at Euro 2012, began his senior career at Danish side Brondby, where he spent three years working under Laudrup. He is available for a nominal fee from Wolfsburg.
