Swansea move interests West Brom defender Chester

West Bromwich Albion defender James Chester has admitted that he is open to the possibility of moving to Swansea City.

The Swans made an approach to sign the Wales international in January, but their approach was knocked back by the Baggies.

Chester is not sure whether Swansea will reignite their interest but he fancies the prospect of playing alongside his national teammate Ashley Williams in the heart of Swansea's defence.

The 27-year-old said: "I have a great relationship with Ash both on and off the pitch and there was interest from Swansea in January.

"But I had only been at West Brom for six months and they were reluctant to sell me to another club in such a similar position in the league.

"I'm not sure what the stance is right now. I played a bit more in the second half of the season but only once at centre-half.

"Whenever someone was back from injury then I was usually the person who missed out.

"It was frustrating because I feel I'm good enough to play every week in the Premier League. It almost cost me my place in the Wales team."
