Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers missed out on former Sevilla striker Ndri Romaric.
The Western Mail says Rodgers had lined up a move for Ivory Coast international Romaric, but saw La Liga outfit Espanyol move for the Sevilla attacker.
It is understood he opted not to follow up initial interest in Watford's Adrian Mariappa and a move for Middlesbrough's Matthew Bates was not reconsidered.
