Shelvey, who played in all three of Englandâ€™s group stage defeats under Pearce at the European U21 Championship in the summer, placed the blame for failure squarely on the former coachâ€™s tactics.
â€śWe got battered by the Italians and could not get the ball off them â€“ but we had the players to do that to them,â€ť said the Swansea midfielder.
â€śItâ€™s frustrating because you get told to sit off and defend when we should be going out there and attacking them. We need to show a bit more bravery when we do play for our countries to get on the ball and pass it.â€ť
