Newcastle United could complete a move for Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey by the end of the week, according to reports from the Daily Express.

Newcastle have been interested in signing 23-year-old Shelvey since the opening of the January transfer window and reports had claimed that the Magpies had a bid of around £12million accepted for the England international.

Now in a further development to the story, it has been suggested that Shelvey is now keen on making his way to St James' Park and the move is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Swans interim boss Alan Curtis said on Monday that he would be prepared to keep the former Liverpool youngster at the Liberty Stadium but would also consider a sale if the price was right.
