Swansea midfielder De Guzman: World wants to see Welsh derby

Swansea City midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has no doubts their clash at Cardiff City is the big game of the weekend.

Swansea City midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has no doubts their clash at Cardiff City is the big game of the weekend.

With Sunday’s showdown being beamed into what the Premier League claim as 720m homes across 212 territories, no more can the frenzied fixture be described as Wales’ best-kept secret.

De Guzman told the South Wales Echo: “Wherever you are, derbies are great games to play in with the atmosphere and the fans in the build-up. This is no different.

“I didn’t know much about the rivalry here before I came, but the more time I spend here the more I’ve learned about it and seen what it’s all about.

“It’s a big game for everyone, for the city, all the people here and the club itself and it’ll be an honour to be a part of it.

“People across the world are looking forward to this. It’s a big game in the Premier League – and hopefully one we can win.”
