The midfielder retains hope of an England call.
Britton said: "We talked about Leon Osman last year, though that might be a slightly different case because he's played in the Premier League his entire career.
"Rickie Lambert is someone who's come from working in a factory to Bristol Rovers in League Two and followed a similar path to a few of us in the Swansea squad.
"Being 31, he's not 21, the manager's still picked him so it does give you optimism that if you're playing well, even if you're not with a fashionable club in the top five or six, the manager will pick you. It gives everyone, not just myself, but a lot of other layers in my position, optimism of getting there.
"I'd never give up hope of an England call until I hang my boots up but I just want to play well for Swansea."
