Swansea management delighted with Vorm impact

Swansea City management are delighted with their capture of Dutch goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

Tipped off over Vorm's availability by European contacts, a study of the DVDs confirmed the 28-year-old was well worth investing in, his distribution good enough for Swans to bring in another "sweeper-keeper" after Dorus de Vries.

"He's just so sharp and agile he can get across to make saves," said Adrian Tucker, the Swans' goalkeeping coach, to the Western Mail.

"I watched Clint Dempsey's penalty back after the Fulham game to see whether he gained an advantage by stealing a yard off his line, but he didn't. He just sprang across the goal and that's what he can do.

"I've seen him delay penalties to get in the mind of the taker, but he still has to make the save.

"And it's come to a point where the pressure is on the forward taking the penalty.

"He's extremely talented, but he also works extremely hard, like doing homework on penalty takers and he stays on his toes because he knows he's got two good goalkeepers pushing him to start.

"He had big gloves to fill given what Dorus had done, but I think you can see the fans have taken to him already."
