Swansea City made a failed bid for Middlesbrough striker Leroy Lita.
Ex-England Under-21 star Lita had his best season for a number of years last term with 12 league goals.
Boro boss Tony Mowbray is a confirmed fan, but with the Teesside club still looking to cut their wage bill, Lita could move if a suitable offer is made.
However, Swansea's opening salvo, believed to be less than £1million, is way below Boro's valuation of a player they signed on a free transfer in 2009, says skysports.com.
Boro teammate Marvin Emnes is also a target for Swansea.
