Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton is on standby should manager Paul Clement be shown the door.
The Sun says Britton will get the nod to step in for Clement if results do not improve.
Britton has only recently been promoted to a coaching post, but he is first in line to take the hotseat at the Welsh club.
Clement has to turn the season around fast, starting with a crunch trip to Everton tomorrow, as there is concern about a dreadful season.
The former Derby County chief has failed to convince and, despite public support, there is private anxiety.
Britton, 35, is popular at the club and could be promoted in the same way as Garry Monk, who was given the chance when Michael Laudrup left.
