Swansea City fullback Neil Taylor knows he faces a battle to win over manager Michael Laudrup.
The Welsh ace has been to hell and back over the last 12 months after breaking his ankle in three places and then suffering a thigh injury at the start of this season.
Taylor, 24, said: "I wouldn't say I feel second choice but the case for me here is that the gaffer had never seen me play - not properly - before the injury.
"Maybe he caught the Olympics when he first came over but I'm not sure how much he'd seen of Swansea. He saw me play three games last year and then that was it - I was injured!
"So, yes, I have to prove myself to the boss still because we play differently under him. We've got more Spanish players now and we are more technical.
"Now this is my chance to make both the manager and my team-mates trust me. But everyone knows what type of full-back I was before the injury. It's a year missed but I'm confident of getting back to that level."
