Swansea City fullback Ben Davies admits he favoured rugby over football growing up.

For many years, Davies — who has been an ever-present for the Swans since replacing broken-ankle victim Neil Taylor in September — thought his international chance might come in rugby.

He said: “I enjoyed playing rugby as much as football. We even got to the Welsh schools’ final. But at 16 I had to decide what I really wanted to do. I chose football and it has worked out well.
