Swansea fear Liberty expansion plans now thwarted

Swansea City have concerns over their plans to expand Liberty stadium.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins says a decision by the local council to approve plans for a fast-food restaurant near the Liberty Stadium could hamper any plans the club may have to expand the ground.

Jenkins said in a statement on the club website: "The club's board of directors was shocked and disappointed at the short-sightedness of the decision.

"The local authority was well aware of our concerns and objections for a fast food outlet on the perimeter of the stadium and it remains to be seen whether the decision will have a detrimental effect for the further expansion plans we have for the Liberty Stadium."
