Premiership new boys Swansea have been rebuffed by Spanish midfielder Marcos Senna who has opted to stay at Villarreal. The 34-year-old, whose contract expired earlier this summer, has agreed a one-year extension to stay at El Madrigal.
Senna held talks with Swansea about a possible move to Wales, but the midfielder has opted to stay in Spain.
Speaking on his Twitter account, Senna thanked Villarreal president Fernando Roig for awarding him a new contract.
"I decided to accept the proposal of the Villarreal family and I thank Roig for his confidence," said Senna.
