Swansea City are determined to tie down manager Gary Monk to a new contract at the Liberty Stadium.

According to reports, both parties are eager to reach a new deal which would include an increase in pay and would have a new compensation clause written in if he were to depart.

Monk has led the Swans to their best ever points total in the Premier League this term and is a serious contender for LMA's prestigious Manager of the Year award.

It is reported that initial talks have already taken place between the club and the former defender to extend the three-year contract Monk signed last May.
