Swansea deserved to win Guidoilin debut in world’s ‘most important league’

Francesco Guidolin was over the moon after guiding Swansea City to a 2-1 victory over Everton.

The Italian was in charge of the Welsh club for the first time since taking over last week and helped the squad he inherited from Garry Monk and caretaker Alan Curtis make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

A penalty from Gylfi Sigurdsson and a deflected shot from Andre Ayew, either side of Jack Cork's own-goal, gave Swansea sixth win of the season which allowed them to creep up to 15th on the Premier League table.

After the match, Guidolin told Sky Sports that he felt it was a deserved triumph for his side in what he describes as a very important football league.

"With the win, it's the perfect way (to start). It was difficult. In the first half we played very, very well but in the second we suffered," he said.

"I don't think we were lucky but we deserved to win.

"The Premier League is difficult. There are teams with quality players and it is the most important league in the world. I am learning this at the moment."
