Swansea defender Rangel shies away from homeless shelter praise

Swansea City right-back Angel Rangel believes he and his wife do not deserve praise for helping out homeless people in the South Wales city.

Rangel and wife Nikki took the work into their own hands when they heard a manager of a local sandwich chain remark that he would have to throw any leftover food away and decided to feed the homeless at a local charity shelter.

But the Spaniard says there are more people deserving of adulation than himself: "I am a bit embarrassed, I have mixed emotions. We did not want any press, me and my wife.

"We just did it for the fact we thought at the time it was a good idea, we did not want anything from it.

"We know it has made a big impact, we are grateful that people have appreciated what we have done, but we are embarrassed because we don't deserve it.

"The people who work 24/7 in those shelters deserve more praise than us."
