Swansea confirm Laudrup as new manager

Swansea City have confirmed the appointment of Michael Laudrup as the clubs new manager.

The Denmark great has signed a two-year deal to take the reins from Brendan Rodgers who recently departed the Liberty Stadium for the Liverpool job.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins was delighted to announce the deal, saying that Laudrup is the perfect fit for the Welsh club.

"We are delighted with the appointment," he told the club's official website.

"Michael has a clear picture and understanding of what we require at Swansea City to build on all the good work and strides we have made over the last few years as a football club.

"There is no doubt about his standing as one of the game's greatest footballers, but we also see the qualities he has as a manager.

"I'm confident that Michael will prove a fantastic acquisition that will help keep this football club moving forward.''

48-year old Laudrup had a brilliant playing career with the likes of Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Ajax and has managerial experience as Denmark's assistant manager, Brondby, Getafe, Spartak Moscow and Mallorca.
