Swansea City are launching an £8 million bid for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
The South Wales Echo says some reports had suggested that he would cost as much as £12m, but it is understood Swansea are hopeful of doing a deal well below that figure, although nonetheless breaking the club record £5.55m shelled out to sign Pablo Hernandez last August.
Wages are not thought to be an issue and there is an eagerness to tie up the deal quickly after the player was identified by Swansea's scouting network as fitting the profile for both budget and the team's style.
