Swansea clinch three points at Millwall

Swansea defeated Millwall 2-1 to keep their slim automatic promotion hopes alive. The Welsh side are fourth in the Championship, three points outside the top two, but with Norwich and Cardiff ahead of them with each having a game in hand, it looks like they will have to make do with the play-offs.

Rodgers said: "I was speaking to one or two of the Millwall staff and they said we were the best team they've seen down here this season and that's nice to hear.

"I thought we were outstanding and it was a very accomplished performance. There was a little pressure on the game because we knew Millwall had to win to get near the play-offs.

"We spoke a couple of weeks back about our performances away from home because I don't think we've done as well as we could have done.

"But that was different today - I thought we were superb and we are full of confidence at the moment.

"We'll not change our game plans at all for the play-offs. The players have bought into the philosophy of how we want to play and I don't expect that to change. We don't know any other way to play."

The Lions' defeat ended any hopes they had of making the top six, and boss Kenny Jackett admitting his side were beaten by the better team.

"We were beaten by the better side - it's as simple as that. We just couldn't really get going and that's a bit disappointing.

"We had a couple of chances in the second half through James Henry and Hamer Bouazza but I was just waiting for us to get our game going and it didn't happen.

"We didn't play how I know we can and Swansea need to take credit for that because they held us off very well and got their goals.

"We couldn't bring our key players into the game.

"When you see what Swansea have done after getting promoted, building each year, we need to take heart from that and look to do something similar.

"To keep the play-off race going until after Easter is a great effort from our lads. We've had to win a lot of big games to keep our season going and maybe this was one too many."
