Swansea chairman Jenkins: Laudrup on radar before Rodgers departure

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins admits they had Michael Laudrup under consideration before Brendan Rodgers' departure for Liverpool.

Laudrup was quickly identified by Swansea searches for well-fitting candidates to replace Rodgers should he be tempted away when reports of interest from rival clubs first emerged.

He told the South Wales Echo: "Over the past few months we were well aware that Brendan Rodgers' stock was rising and we sensed that he probably could attract interest from other sources.

"So we worked silently to define any preferences and we quickly agreed that it would be important for us to get someone who knew the style of Barcelona.

"There were many who fitted the profile that was discussed, but it came down to Michael Laudrup.

"Not only did he have the right profile as a player, but also his whole personality seemed to fit."
