Wigan Athletic pair Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez are being backed for success next season by their former Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins.
Jenkins insists both will learn from the experience of their first year at Wigan, and go on to prove they were worth the chance taken on them by Martinez.
He told the Wigan Evening Post: "Sometimes when players go to a different club, it's not quite the same, the players around them are different and it's not an exact science.
"I think it's something that happens to a lot of players, not just those two - that sometimes systems of play and the players around them does make a difference.
"It was always going to be difficult for those boys to go to Wigan, with the new set-up and system - and it will take a little bit of time to get it right."
