Swansea chairman Jenkins all set for Premier League

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins says the club is now ready for the Premier League after winning the Championship playoff this afternoon.

The Swans became the first Welsh club to reach the Premier League courtesy of a 4-2 win over Reading at Wembley and Jenkins is now targeting life in the top flight.

"It's hard to believe. We'll probably be travelling home tonight and we'll have to pinch ourselves just to get back to reality," he told Sky Sports.

"It's been a remarkable 10 years for us at the football club. Just to have the opportunity next season to continue building and growing and to have the chance to play against the best teams in the country is fantastic.

"[Manager Brendan Rodgers ] has been fantastic and his personality has lifted the club. We brought new players in and to be fair we couldn't have asked for any more this season.

"He's a fantastic manager and we're lucky we've got him."

And Jenkins was hopeful that the style of game Rodgers has brought to the Liberty Stadium can continue next season and beyond.

"Hopefully the philosophy and the way we play can continue in the long term," he added.

"Going back two years people thought we had a massive task going into the Championship. But I think we proved over the years that we've got a lot to offer and I've no worries of next year going in and testing ourselves against the best. We're going to give it everything we've got."
